LOCATION & HISTORY

Hótel Skálholt is located in the south region of Iceland.

Skálholt is one of the largest historical sites in Iceland and a bishop’s residence since 1056. In the basement of the church there is an exhibition with artefacts and fragments of history. Outside archaeologists have dug up remains of buildings next to the church that were once there and are an important part of Icelandic history.
